IT BEGINS!!!

Trip 2 to the EV Nuatilus..

Left Dallas on the 16^th and flew to Frankfurt Germany. (9.5 hours).  Landed on time and then had a supposed 4 hour layover for a CONDOR flight to Antalya Turkey. Of course this layover turned out to 9 hours. Finally got in the air and flew for 3.5 more hours. Finally arrived and was met by the agent and had no problem with customs, or getting to the ship. Finally arrived around 9:00 PM local time on the 17^th. Once we arrived on the ship I was surprised to find I had a private cabin waiting..  Of course I was then told not to unpack as I would likely be moving.  Also found out we did not have our permit for more exploration in the planned area and would be at pier side until at least Monday afternoon. So here we sit waiting for the papers…  Oh well it was nice to arrive and see everything working. Actually had time to set up the HAM radio gear and as soon as we leave port might even get to use it..

  TV TIME??

Scheduled departure 22:00 hrs. today...    We are off to the local PUB for a bit of shore time..

Last night was our last trip to shore and a good time was had by all!! 

Look what I found..

Not much to report but the video shots are great.  I will update with more photo's as time allows..

Not much to show as there is a lot of water and no shore in sight..  We will have an all day event tomorrow as they remove all the cable on the spool and cut off 500 meters or so with a bad fiber.  Of course you can guess which end it is on!!  So you spool out  (on the bottom of the ocean) to the bad spot, clamp it to the ship, and cut the cable. Now spool out the rest and throw it away..  Bummer..

9/29/10 and 3 days of off time...  1 fixing a briken cable (3 Kilometers long)
