SHALAKO
05/30/1983
Shalako is a registered Pinto. We are not sure of his registered name but he came to us as Raz Ma Taz. Since he belongs to Glenn, he decided to rename him. Glenn chose Shalako from a book by Louis L'Amour. We both love the name and it fits him. Although Glenn does not ride much, when he does Shalako gives him for a good ride. Our daughter always rides him when she comes up. Shalako has one problem and that is he does not like to stop and when given the chance he will run and run and is hard to stop. He takes an experienced rider. We could use a harsh bit but choose not to. We just let select people ride him. On the trail he will go anywhere and since trail riding is mostly walking we can let others ride him. He loves the water and always likes the visit to the lake. He will walk way out and splash with his feet. He will also dunk his head in all the way. He will do this in the water tank also. Shalako has another unique trick, he will drink from a water hose. He loves to be sprayed with the hose on hot days. He will stand there as long as you will spray him. I guess you could say he is spoiled but so are all the horses at Chulosa Loma and Swingin' D.
